Meet Our Executive Staff
Jim Martin, President/CEO, started his career in the U.S. Air Force, where he was a Wide Band Radio Communications Specialist. He is BICSI and RCDD certified. After working for the USAF and at Burroughs Corp., Jim started his own company, Computer Power Systems. He has two children, Chrissy and Michael, and spends much of his spare time flying. “A childhood dream of mine was to be a pilot. I’ve realized that dream in a way I could never have imagined as a youth. The only way to really see the world is upside down.”
Bob Ruf, Vice President, was born in Chicago, and now lives in Round Lake, IL. His training includes certification in Computer Repair from the Control Data Institute, as well as two years of various additional college tech courses. He spent 10 years in Computer Hardware Repair and Installation Support before joining CPS. He lives with his wife, Darlene, and has two stepchildren, Christopher and Heather. For the last seven years, Bob’s life has consisted of work and coming home to care for his disabled wife. He enjoys watching movies and playing computer games. “Probably my best work-related skill is in the area of maintaining computers and working with the applications needed to make them work.”
Rick Cappelli, Director of Sales and Marketing, lives in Round Lake Beach, IL. He earned his Associates Degree in Science from Triton College. He is a BICSI certified installer, with RCDD, Hubbell, Mohawk and Panduit certifications. Rick enjoys family life with his wife, Becky, children, Chad and Amy, and their two dogs. Mike Goodwin, Senior Account Manager, spent seven years as a telephone/cabling installer and Hotel Engineer before he joined the CPS workforce. He grew up in the Chicago area and now lives in Lake Villa with his wife, Eilish. They have three children and two dogs, and enjoy their family time together. He also enjoys golf, playing drums, and fantasy football. Mike’s certification includes an Associates Degree in Science, as well as training in refrigeration and communication, including VoIP installation. “I love my job. Being able to work with different clients every day along with the variety of tasks involved with technology makes every work day fast & exciting.”
Scott Besaw, Account Manager, was born in Waukegan, IL and now lives in Trevor, WI. He is a BICSI certified technician, and worked at AT&T and Reltec Corp. before joining the staff at CPS. Scott is married, with a daughter and two dogs in the family. He enjoys watching football and Nascar, playing bags and horseshoes, and spending time with family and friends.
Doug Danielson, Account Manager, grew up Wildwood, IL and now resides in Bristol, WI. He is married with 3 children and a Lab (Doug Jr., Dakota, Gabrielle and Ranger). Doug joined the Army immediately after high school and still is in the National Guard after 21+ yrs. He has been with CPS for over 11 years and is a certified BICSI Technician working toward his RCDD. He devotes his spare time to his family and being a coach on the soccer, baseball, and football teams. He loves to be outdoors fishing and hunting when he gets a chance. “The assets that have followed me in this company are my leadership and confidence to accomplish any project no matter the size or complexity.”
Scott Carpenter, Director of Technology, was born in New Hartford, NY, and now lives in Lindenhurst, IL. He graduated from National Louis University with a degree in Business Management. Scott’s experience prior to CPS included work as a Project Manager, a System Administrator, and a LAN Administrator. Scott lives with his wife, Carol, two sons, Brad and Garrett, and dog, Madison. He enjoys snowboarding and coaching football, and is a member of the Ski Patrol. “My plans for world domination are running a few years behind schedule, but I hope to be back on track by the end of the 4th quarter!”
Matt Erickson, Account Manager, was born in Milwaukee, WI, and now lives in Antioch, IL. He began with CPS as an apprentice installer, going on to earn BICSI certification, and becoming a Level II Installer. After logging in two years as a project manager, Matt has found a perfect fit in Sales, where he can take an active role in interacting with customers. In his spare time, he watches football, and enjoys playing bags, and spending time with friends and family, especially his two great kids. “The thing I love most about my career is creating a lasting relationship with our customers and providing the best service and solutions to meet their needs.”
Darrell Hendrickson, Operations Manager, lives in Round Lake Beach, IL, and has been a part of CPS for 12 years. Married with two grown children, two grandchildren, and one dog, Darrell enjoys reading books about the history of America. His responsibilities at CPS include overseeing the Installations Department, including the employees, purchasing, inventory control and scheduling. “We believe the two most important components of CPS are our customers and our employees. Because we strive to maintain a respectful and honest atmosphere, CPS is a trustworthy company.”
Teresa Morse, Office Manager, from Wisconsin Dells, WI, travels approx. 160 miles to manage the office at CPS, which truly speaks of her commitment to the company. She is married with two daughters, and enjoys spending time with her girls and her husband. “Have confidence in your ability, and then be tough enough to follow through." -Rosalynn Carter
Melissa Vanoverbeke, Sales & Marketing Specialist was born and raised in Deerfield, IL and currently resides in Ingleside, IL. She began working at CPS in 2008 to assist in Marketing and Sales. She currently has 3 beautiful children who are very active in sports and keep her busy. Melissa and her family all enjoy all outdoor activities and the great company of family and friends.
