Meet our executive staff…
Mark Allen, Owner/President: Mark acquired Computer Power Systems in March of 2017. He most recently was Chief Operations Officer for Miller Group LLC, a privately held investment group overseeing a $40M investment portfolio of businesses in the US. Prior to that Mark was the VP and COO for JA Moody Inc, a major distributor of fluid controls products to the Department of Defense with headquarters in Malvern, PA. Prior to joining JA Moody Mark was the founder of Mark Allen Racing Inc, a professional motorsports organization in NASCAR. Prior to this entrepreneurial venture Mark spent ten years in key leadership roles at Zodiac Aerospace, Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), and Sprint following a highly successful 24-year career with the U.S. Navy. He served as the Director of Security Products within the Zodiac Aerospace Aerosafety Branch at Engineered Arresting Systems Corporation leading a new division focused around homeland security and critical infrastructure protection. Additionally Mark served as the corporate strategist and lead for merger & acquisition activities in the aerospace and homeland security sectors. Prior to entering industry, Mark’s Navy career encompassed 7 years as an enlisted electronics technician and 17 years as a Naval Aviation Officer flying and testing fixed wing tactical jet aircraft. He is a member of NASCAR, the National Defense Industrial Association, the Association of Naval Aviation, the Tailhook Foundation, and the Association of Unmanned Vehicle Systems International.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New York, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Pennsylvania State University College of Business and an Executive Certificate in Corporate Strategy & Innovation from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Mark enjoys being active in his community. He is part of the new Lake Forest High School Innovation Incubator project working as a mentor and coach with the inaugural class of students. He is a member and Secretary of the Lake Forest Lake Bluff Lions Club. Mark is a new member of the Lake Forest School Board Finance & Operations Committee. Mark enjoys spending time with his wife Denise and their golden retriever, the golf course and anything that gets him on or in the water.
Bob Ruf, Vice President, was born in Chicago, and now lives in Round Lake, IL. Bob spent fifteen years in Computer Hardware Repair and Installation Support before joining CPS. His training includes certification in Computer Repair from the Control Data Institute, as well as two years of various additional college and manufacturer tech courses.Bob partnered with Jim back in February of 1987 and the company took off, becoming more than either could have imagined. It just goes to show you that if you take care of your employees they will take care of you. “It seems to me that the character and integrity of those you do business with is more important than the price of a product.”
Rick Cappelli, Vice President, lives in Round Lake Beach, IL. He earned his Associates Degree in Science from Triton College. He is a BICSI certified RCDD, and holds structured cabling certificates as a certified installer with Hubbell, Mohawk, Leviton and Panduit. Rick is a Bogen “ACE” installer because of his extensive training on Bogen Paging Systems. He loves cabling design work especially in the Data Centers. Rick has been employed with CPS since January of 1993. One of his favorite quotes is: “Think about what you do so you can do what you think.” – David Allen.
Mike Goodwin, Senior Account Manager, spent seven years as a telephone/cabling installer and Hotel Engineer before he joined the CPS family in 2004. He grew up in the Chicago area and now lives in Lake Villa, Illinois. Mike’s certification includes an Associates Degree in Science, as well as training in refrigeration and communication, including VoIP installation. “I love my job. Being able to work with different clients every day, along with the variety of tasks involved with technology makes every workday fast and exciting.”
Scott Carpenter, Director of Technology, was born in New Hartford, NY, and now lives in Lindenhurst, IL. He graduated from National Louis University with a degree in Business Management. He has been with CPS since 2009. Scott’s experience prior to CPS included work as a Project Manager, a System Administrator, and a LAN Administrator. He is an important facilitator in CPS’ expansion into IP integrated Video Surveillance.
Doug Danielson, Account Manager, grew up Wildwood, IL, and now resides in Bristol, WI. Doug joined the Army immediately after high school and still is in the National Guard after twenty-two years. He has been with CPS since 1998 and is a certified BICSI Technician working toward his RCDD. “The assets that have followed me in this company are my leadership and confidence to accomplish any project no matter the size or complexity.”
Darrel Hendrickson, Operations Manager, lives in Round Lake Beach, IL, and has been a part of CPS since 1997. His responsibilities at CPS include overseeing the Installations Department, including the employees, purchasing, inventory control and scheduling. “We believe the two most important components of CPS are our customers and our employees. Because we strive to maintain a respectful and honest atmosphere, CPS is a trustworthy company.”
Teresa Morse, Office Manager, from Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, travels approximately one hundred and sixty miles to manage the office at CPS, which truly speaks of her commitment to the company. She has been with CPS since May, 2000. As Office Manager, she makes sure that the daily functions of the office operate at 110%. Her favorite quote: “Have confidence in your ability, and then be tough enough to follow through.” – Rosalynn Carter
Nicole Rudd, Administrative Assistant, was raised in Park City, Illinois, and now resides in Lake Villa, Illinois. She has two children, Matthew and Haylie, whom she has been home with for the past nine years. She also helps with her husband’s HVAC business. Now, with the children older, Nicole has decided to start a career with CPS.
Gregg Rosenquist, Marketing Specialist/Documentation Tech, was born in Chicago, IL, and now lives in Lindenhurst. Gregg has been with CPS since April of 2010. He has over twenty years of graphic arts and marketing experience. He is impressed with the professionalism he sees in everyone that works at CPS and enjoys the close family atmosphere he works in. “We all take the extra step to help each other meet the company’s goals, that’s why CPS is successful.”
Michael Szpisjak, Business Development, is an accomplished Information Technology Executive with extensive experience the Educational Information Technology Sector. Michael has implemented networks, phone systems, clock/pa systems, plus launched and supported multiple one to one initiatives across many area school districts. After over two decades of working in schools Michael brings a multi-faceted approach to providing solutions to clients of CPS. “We don’t make instruction effective, we make effective instruction more accessible.”
Jacob Carus, CPS Account Manager, was born in McHenry and grew up in Spring Grove, Illinois. Prior to his current employment at CPS, Jake was an irradiator operator for 3 years. He began his career at CPS as an apprentice installer in 2012 and began his new role as an account manager in February, 2014. With Jake’s eagerness to learn and desire to build mutually beneficial relationships with our customers, he is sure to fit right in as a CPS account manager.
Michael Velasquez, Account Support Administrator, has been working in the technology field for the last seven years, originally starting out in the world of cellular devices, but truly finding his calling with home networking and computers. Working for CPS has truly meshed his love for technology and his passion for outstanding customer service with the position he’s taken up within the National Accounts Team. He looks forward to learning and growing with CPS.
Tony Licocci, Purchasing and Inventory Specialist, has over 20 years of experience in Purchasing and Inventory Control Management, both in the wholesale consumer products industry and in manufacturing. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Illinois, then began his career in warehouse management before moving up to purchasing manager, then on to operations manager for a wholesale distribution company. He has successfully created and managed vendor relations, purchasing and inventory across multiple facilities, and brings additional expertise to CPS as the company continues to grow. “It is my responsibility to make sure we have what we need to complete our projects on time – and I love making that happen.”
Craigan Peterson, National Account Service Specialist – was born in McHenry, IL and grew up in Richmond, IL. He has several years of Electrical and low voltage experience, as well as knowledge in all types of construction. Craigan has come on board to assist with a growing National Accounts Division and continues to grow within the company. Craigan’s people skills and eagerness to learn is what gives him an edge in the ever changing low voltage business.
Michael Link, IT Service Technician – was born in Highland Park, IL and grew up in Libertyville, IL. He earned a B.S. in Informatics from Indiana University –Bloomington. After 5 years working for a friend’s startup, he took a brief plunge into Financial Advising. His love for technology quickly called him back and he began his career with CPS in February, 2016. With a reinvigorated sense of purpose, he looks forward to facilitating the growth of an interconnected world.
Derek Andre, National Account Support – grew up in Lake Zurich, IL. Worked with CPS in 2014 in business development. He went back to school to finish his bachelors, and would later graduate summa cum laude from the University of Wisconsin – Platteville with a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Integrated Marketing. Derek returned in June of 2016 to help manage our expanding national presence, as well as develop a marketing platform to spread the word of CPS and our capabilities.
Angela Cerminara, Administrative Assistant – Angela was raised in Winthrop Harbor, IL, and currently resides in Kenosha, WI. She joined CPS in December, 2016, and brought with her over 15 years in customer relations experience. Angela enjoys spending time with her husband and her son and traveling to see her family in Mississippi. She is excited to start her career with CPS.
